Durty Gurty is the name of a fashion design company created by Paule Noble. Inspired by 50's Rockabilly and Hod Rod culture these are some top threads for hip honeys. I was approached by Paula and shown a range of stylish clothes and creative ideas and was given free reign on the design which is great to have a trusting client who has faith in your work. The logo was initially drawn by Paula herself which I then created in illustrator to be sharper and to work well on other medias. The only restriction I had was to not use pink so I decided to use pink. Turns out she liked it. Not really advice I would give to other graphic designers. The work is currently in progress so check back for more work coming soon.Branding, Graphic Design, Illustration2012 -
I created this poster for a competition held a Fruit Club on Humber Street in Hull. Once a month they have a film night and hold a competition for designers and illustrators to create a poster for the chosen film and a selected few have them printed to be sold on the night.
If I gain enough interest I may sell some on my website. (Feel free to send me a email if you would be interested in purchasing a copy).2012 -
Experimentation work for my self initiated work based on the theme of light and shadow.2011 -
Some quick work I created for a friend. I like to try to create a bit of fun within my designs so creating a link between his name and the profession worked well. For the business card I tried to mimic taking the cover of the light switch off whilst you turn the card over to also create a sense of fun. I also added the generic wallpaper pattern to represent friendliness so I approached this to try a resemble professionalism yet a pleasure to hire which I think has come across well.Branding, Graphic Design, Typography2012 -
I created these stamps for the RSA competition based on the theme of British Firsts. The idea behind these was that Charles Darwin was the first to theorise Evolution. I used the well known image of the stages of evolution and created my own characters and set them in front of 10 downing street to make them look more British. This was also a joke about how everyone who has lived in 10 Downing Street are all monkeys and are taking orders from a higher authority. I added the icon at the bottom of each stamp to show that they are part of a set.Graphic Design, Illustration2012 -
This set of 3 posters where created for Hull School Of Art And Designs end of year Degree Show. I took inspiration from minimal posters to create the shape of a step to accompany the slogan of Taking The Next Step. The set of three different colours I created where to represent the colours used in the schools logo.Advertising, Graphic Design, Typography2012 -
A typeface I created on the theme of Circuit Boards created for the ISTD competition. The design was based on the word Fakery and I looked into how the Chinese are producing counterfeit electronic products and are releasing them before the Japanese originals. Although the individual letters are quite complex they work quite well when used in a sentence.Editorial Design, Graphic Design, Typography2012 -
This flyer was created for the Dean of Hull School Of Art And Design for a exhibition he was holding at his gallery. The show was held over Christmas, hence the name Wrapped. The main challenge here was to try and create a map that would work well as part of the design rather than just applying a standard map to the flyer. As the location was based near a river, that river worked well as a separation between the map and the other contents of the flyer.Advertising, Graphic Design2012 -
These are a series of logo ideas I came up for a product design company called Sheree B who specialize mainly in furniture. Although none of these where used, I felt that they where strong and well worth showing. The colours purple and gray where specified which limited me a bit to what I could achieve but I enjoyed playing with the letterforms to create something that stands out.Branding, Graphic Design, Typography2012 -
